Kick-Ass 2: Limitations of Who You Are

Kick_Ass_2_2013Kick-Ass 2 is the sequel to Kick-Ass (2010), a film adaptation of the comic-book with the same title. It is an action-comedy film which depicts so called “real-life superheroes “lead by Kick-Ass (Aaron Johnson) and Hit Girl (Chloe Moretz) on how they handled their individual lives after the events from the first film. It also stars Christopher Mintz-Plasse as The Motherfucker, villain and Jim Carrey as Colonel Stars and Stripes.

STORY. Throughout the film, I invested myself more on the plot, I like how this heedful guy continuously care on the society, a bad-ass girl trying to cope up on being an ordinary girl, a frustrated villain who’s planning a vengeance for his father and a group of ordinary people trying to be real-life superheroes who’re motivated to conquer the world with goodness. All of these stories were tied up with realistic perception that comical superheroes and characteristics can also exist in real-life but, not that exaggerated as on comic books.

VIOLENCE. The movie is really violent overall, in terms of Language, Movements and Psychological Factors but the violence isn’t done just for nothing, it has this meaning that made it necessary for the material.

COMEDY. I laughed a lot while watching the movie; I have some favorite scenes on the movie which are really funny. This is one of the strongest elements of the movie.

ACTING. I was impressed by the performances of the main casts especially Jim Carrey, but I’m more amazed on Chloe Moretz’s capability on doing action-packed sequences. Aaron Johnson captivates the audience with his charm as a good guy.

DIRECTION. I think this is the weak part of the movie maybe because of lack in art of Camera Panning. During the movie, there are scenes that supposedly must have a long focus but it tends to shake then the camera shifts and for me it made the movie less that apparently shows more.

In general, the film creates a breathtaking projection of personality boundaries, brutality and consequences of violence becoming a dark action-comedy which still gave its trademark, justice and clarity type of storytelling. This is what I like on Kick-Ass; it’s harsh, bloody and violent however it also shows the limitations and provides the concept of penalties. A Good Time Movie!

RATING: 8.5/10
