Hill Station Tapas Bar and Restaurant in Casa Vallejo Hotel Baguio City is named as one of the best restaurants in the area and was voted as one of the Asia’s finest restaurant included in The Miele Guide 2011/2012.
A Little Bit of History
Owned by Mitos Benitez-Yñiquez who traveled in Asia, Europe and America in which she learned her expertise in cooking given her knowledge taught by the women in her family. Mitos choose Baguio City when she began her own family where she established the said restaurant.
A restaurant that offers wide variety of dishes that blends the flavors of Asia, Europe and America, infusing the best of the 3 cuisines. Great food is complemented with warm service and a perfect ambiance which combined the stunning view of the city and historical architecture of Casa Vallejo Hotel which was established in 1909.
Food & Drinks
Hill Station serves breakfast meals, tapas, soups, sandwiches, salad, pasta, steaks, stews, curries and other dishes which originated from the 3 countries she visited. Different beverages are also offered such as cafes, teas, sodas, liquer and cocktail drinks.
Bread with Olive Oil and Egyptian Dukka Dip(mix of nuts, seeds and spices). We started our meal with this very interesting appetizer, The play of texture and spices as you eat the bread is something new! A great way to start the meal!
Caesar Salad with Shredded Duck Confit. Our next course is the famous salad with a twist! It’s topped with shredded duck confit, a French dish made with duck’s leg in which is rubbed with salt, garlic, and herbs, covered and refrigerated for at least 1 1/2 day. The confit gives the salad a different taste. An improved taste of the traditional salad. 🙂
Crispy Duck Flakes. It’s a rice topped with crispy duck flakes. This is something new again! The flakes are very tasty added to it is the texture of purple colored rice.
Lamb Tagine with Honeyed Prunes. This very flavorful dish is paired with a flat bread which is like the Roti Prata of Singapore and Pita of Saudi Arabia, a fried flour-based pancake cooked over flat grill. Love this dish! It’s like the Shawarma with a different filling. 🙂
Moroccan Spiced Baby Back Ribs. A different kind of baby back ribs with very distinct blend of spices with rice and pickles on the side. It’s dish is extremely sumptuous! 😀
Lemon Square. It’s just an ordinary dessert for me. Nothing so special.
Ice Cream Palette (Benguet Coffee with Choco Chips, Mango Rum, Salted Caramel Ice Cream, Dark Chocolate with Cayenne, Vanilla Cinnamon). A different flavors of Ice Cream, love them especially the Salted Caramel flavor, the spices are battling in my mouth add the coldness of this dessert! Perfect! 😀
Hill Station in Casa Vallejo Hotel is my Top 1 must dine restaurant in Baguio City so far. I’m in love with the food and fascinated by the architectural design of the place and the view of the city while dining is stunning.
