The Clark International Airport (CRK) in the Pampanga Philippines has been recognized as one of the world’s most beautiful airports, winning the prestigious Prix Versailles award. This accolade not only highlights the airport’s aesthetic appeal but also showcases the Philippines as a destination that values both functionality and beauty in its infrastructure. Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco expressed her excitement to welcome travelers from around the world to experience the beauty of CRK and the Philippines.
The Prix Versailles award, granted by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), aims to recognize exceptional architecture and design that contribute to the improvement of the living environment. CRK was among 22 airports from various countries that made it to the 9th edition list, including Arturo Merino Benítez International Airport in Chile, Beijing Daxing International Airport in China, and others.
Since assuming her role as tourism chief, Secretary Frasco has focused on maximizing the country’s secondary gateways and fostering strong collaborations between the Department of Tourism and the Department of Transportation for the enhancement of tourism and transport sectors. These efforts aim to boost tourist arrivals in CRK and create more business tourism opportunities in Northern and Central Luzon. As a gateway, Clark has the capacity to serve up to eight million passengers annually and currently offers flights to major tourist destinations within the Philippines and international routes to Hong Kong, Bangkok, and Singapore.
